Damir Imamović Trio plays a minimalist “fusion sevdah”. It is a peculiar interpretation of the traditional music of Bosnia and Herzegovina which both denudes its old form (therefore – minimalism) and opens it up to different musical influences (therefore – fusion). Unlike performers who take musical themes from traditional music and rearrange them in the idioms of jazz, electronic music or some other popular form, Damir Imamović Trio plays a traditional sevdah and seeks to introduce influences of other musical genres into it.
